Eligibility & Requirements

Qualifications and Eligibility:
Scholarships are open to any individual with one of the inherited metabolic disorders listed below, pursuing post-secondary educational or vocational opportunities. Graduate and professional students are not eligible for this award. Residents of any country are eligible to apply. The application form is translatable to languages other than English through Google Translate. Please translate any upload documents (including transcripts and your essay) into English before submitting. Applicants must be accepted to an accredited college or technical school before the scholarship is awarded, but may apply for the scholarship before acceptance is confirmed.

Conditions that qualify individuals for the Scholarship:
Classical HCU, Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), an Organic Acidemia, Phenylketonuria (PKU), Tyrosinemia, or a Urea Cycle Disorder (UCD).

Who will review scholarship applications:
The Guthrie-Koch Scholarship committee includes staff and board members of flok, alumni of the scholarship, and members of the Guthrie family.

Criteria:
The Guthrie-Koch scholarship is awarded to individuals who demonstrate character, academic achievement, and engagement with their community.

Application deadline:
Applications will be available by December 15th each year. Completed applications and reference letters must be submitted online by March 15th each year.
